MISSION STATEMENT
Baseball Wives Charitable Foundation is committed to benefiting and enhancing the quality of life for communities across the nation with a focus on health, education and youth-related projects.

ABOUT THE BASEBALL WIVES CHARITABLE FOUNDATION

We are a 501c(3) non-profit organization founded in 2006 by wives of Major League Baseball players. Our organization is a national fraternal group whose membership includes women of varied nationalities and backgrounds who share common experiences.

Baseball Wives Charitable Foundation continues to build on the strength of the community-at-large by supporting organizations and programs that provide help and resources to people in need; strengthening and enriching the lives of many; and promoting a healthful and exciting future.

While we may face our own challenges, we are thankful for the opportunities in our lives and the ability to help others. If, in sharing of our time and resources a child or their family's life is improved, we are gratified.

BASEBALL WIVES DOING THEIR

PART TO HELP IN THE GULF

As you know the horrific explosion on the Deepwater Horizon Oil Rig on April 20, 2010, and the ensuing oil release has reached the beaches of many of our states and infiltrated precious wetlands. Thousands of families have been harmed: physically, financially and emotionally.  Family pets have been reluctantly surrendered to rescue foundations and wildlife have been killed or injured.

On July 5th, a group of wives of current and former players of MLB (Megan Thomas, Jamie Buerhle, Jill Borkowski, Melissa Bullinger, Elizabeth Condrey, Juilianne Gamel, Jessica Maholm, Anne Ogea, Cass Relaford, and Natalie Tallett), traveled to New Orleans and the Gulf for three days in response to an invitation from the President’s Office of Jefferson Parish.

Along with meeting city and parish officials from New Orleans, Jefferson and Plaquemines Parishes, the Wives visited seafood restaurants, toured the wetlands, threw out the first pitch at the Zephyr game supporting fishermen, and met with residents to hear of their challenges and learn of the message that the Wives could bring home so that all can help.

One of the biggest stories, asked by the Wives to convey, is that the real story is not being told. As Plaquemines Parish President in citing Thomas Paine stated, “Lead, follow, or get out of the way.”

Help the Baseball Wives to help those in need and to protect and restore the wetlands.  Text “RESTORE” to 50555.

"This (oil disaster) is something that's not going to affect just the Gulf coastal areas. It's going to affect the whole country with the seafood, the animals and the ecosystem."
Jessica Maholm

"The initial point of this trip was to raise awareness. We want to take things we've seen here firsthand home with us and create our own fundraisers and keep the awareness out there."
Megan Thomas
